Formed in 1914. This battalion was raised in Brandon and Winnipeg, Manitoba, with recruits also coming from Port Arthur (now called Thunder Bay, and Kenora, Ontario. with headquarters in Valcartier Quebec. Known as the "Little Black Devils". Sailed for England in October of1914,and served in France and Belgium with the 2nd Infantry Brigade, 1st Canadian Division.
