Another interesting discovery. It is a special button, patented, and made into a hiding place for a mini compass, etc.. It opens up like a locket, and small items like compasses, small folded maps, were kept inside for emergency use. These are often talked about but rarely seen. This particular one, is dated ... June 29, 1915, and has a hallmark which appears to be "M2". Indeed a rare find in Canadian military buttons.
