You are viewing a vintage CEF WWI era 47th Battalion Cap Badge. This badge is made of fine highly detailed copper with the number 47th, the crown,and the BC Canada Scroll are in raised detail. The single piece badge is made using the stamping method. There is an unreadable hallmark in the closeup scan. Both welded stem lug type attachments are original and in good order.
According to Charlton this is the second pattern of this rare badge from the CEF era of the 20th century. ..This battalion was raised in British Columbia, with
headquarters in New Westminster. The unit began recruiting during the summer of 1915 and sailed for England on November 13th,1915. This battalion, composed of 1150 members,and served in
France and Belgium with the 10 Infantry brigade of the 4th Canadian Division. The battalion was renamed the 47th Western Ontario battalion in February of 1918...
