You are viewing a vintage CEF WWI era249th Battalion Cap Badge. The motto is "Heads Up". This badge is made of fine highly detailed copper; made using the stamping method. Both lug type attachments are original and in good order. Hard to find badge from the CEF era of the 20th century. ..

This battalion was raised in Saskatchewan, with headquarters in Regina. The unit began recruiting during the summer of 1916 and sailed for England on February 21st, 1918. The 249thbattalion, composed of 734 members, became part of the Reserve Battalions already stationed in England Though this unit was formed in 1916, from volunteers from Saskatchewan's Regina area, they did notreach England until Februaryof 1918. This was a small battalion of some 734 men. Upon reaching England they were absorbed into other battalions. This badge is consequently quite rare. A beautiful crisp example with very nice patina giving evidence to its age. A rare beauty for the discerning collector of Canadian CEF badges....
