You are viewing a beautiful king's crown era brass collar badge for the Wentworth Regiment. This regiment was based in the Hamilton Ontario region of Canada. The badge is in very good condition with both vertically positioned lugs original and intact. A solid but light badge the center of which has a shield with 3 lion faces on it. The regiment has a long history, descending from the 13th Regiment, formed December 11, 1862, on a general order issued by the Governor General. Now called the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry (Wentworth Regiment). It is currently a primary reserve unit of the Canadian Army,based at the John W. Foote VC Armories in Hamilton, Ontario. From WWI the Regiment perpetuates the 4th, 86th,120th,129th and 205th Battalions from the Canadian Expeditionary Force. The regiment suffered their greatest single day of losses at the sad fiasco of Dieppe, on August 19, 1942. This prestigious unit has earned thirty-nine battle honours in the two World Wars. Most recently, members from the regiment have deployed to Afghanistan as part of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).
