You are viewing a rare WWI era CEF cap badge. There are two known types of 50th Battalion badges; this one is of the "leaf" variety, the other is the Alberta provincial shield design. This badge is made of copper, and quite free of oxidation...A clean original piece ... This CEF 50th Battalion Cap Badge has both original lugs intact and in good order. This was the badge worn by our CEF volunteers when in Europe... The other style was used by the unit in Canada.

The Battalion was raised in Calgary Alberta and 1077 members sailed for France on October 27th 1915. They served in France and Belgium throughout the War, as part of the 10th Brigade of the 4th Canadian Division.
