This regiment known at the beginning of WW2 as "le Régiment de Trois-Rivières".This regiment, a tank unit, was reorganized and fought as an English-speaking unit (the Three Rivers Regiment). Many French-speaking soldiers were sidetracked in this process. One of the most famous was Jean-Victor Allard who demanded a transfer from the Three Rivers Regiment to the Infantry. As you may know he became Chief of Defense Staff, during the Cold War of the 1960's.
