217 Number over a Lee Enfield pin

You are viewing a vintage CEF WWI 217th Battalion number attached onto a rifle pin. Straight pin attachment is missing. Made of brass, most likely a "sweetheart" badge, given to loved one by a soldier long ago!.
This battalion was raised in eastern Saskatchewan in the Moosomin area and the Qu'appelle Valley, during July of 1916.The 217th embarked for England on June 2nd, 1917 and upon arrival became part of the 15th Reserve Battalion.
