From 1942 until May of 1944 they served as Home Guard in Newfoundland and in Nova Scotia, at the Debert army facility. In July of 1944, one month after D-Day, they embarked for Europe. Shortly after their arrival in England the regiment was broken up to supply reinforcements to regiments in the field.
