You are viewing a 2nd pattern WWI Era Canadian Army Collar badge set of two for the Edmonton Regiment. Familiarly called the "Loyal Eddies". Made of brass with all original lug style attachments in good order. A nice find!

This battalion was raised in Edmonton during the summer of 1915. This larger battalion composed of 1032 members sailed for England on June 4th 1916. Upon arrival this battalion became part of the 7th Infantry Brigade, 3rd Canadian Division fighting in France and Belgium throughout the war.
At the start of WWII the regiment was mobilized in September of 1939, the "Loyal Eddies" were one of the first Canadian regiments to enter the WWII frey. They met the enemy in August of 1941 when they took part in the Spitsbergen expedition. In 1943 the regiment was re-designated the "Loyal Edmonton Regiment" and continued throughout the remainder of WW2 . A fine group of Albertan soldiers who served our country with honor and distinction...
