Above are the views of a WWI Era CEF 57th Battalion Cap Badge. Also known as the "Bataillon Canadien Francais". This badge is made of fine highly detailed browning brass; a piece made using a stamping method..Still very clean with lug type attachments original and in good order. A sturdy stamped out version that still possesses its cross pin.
This battalion came from the Quebec City area of Eastern Canada. The unit began recruiting during the spring of 1915 and the volunteers sailed for England on June 2nd, 1915. It was a smaller battalion than the average CEF group, composed of 437 members, and became part of the fighting 69th CEF Battalion upon its arrival in England...
