Thw 11th Hussars was a cavalry regiment
of the British Army . Founded in 1715 as a regiment
of dragoons, they first served in Scotland (Culloden). They also participated in the
Seven Years' War (Warburg), the Napoleonic Wars at Salamanca, Peninsula, and of course Waterloo). Later in the 19th century, they participated in the Crimea and charged with the Light Brigade at Balaclava. In WWI they were involved in the Arab revolt and in the British Mandate of
Palestine. WWII saw them fighting in the Italian invasion of Egypt and in
Normandy as well. In 1969 they were amalgamated with the 10th Royal Hussars (Prince of Wales' Own) to form the Royal Hussars in 1969, which later became part of the King's Royal Hussars.
